One of the things that I try and do every time we do one of these videos to give you some simple practice tips that you can apply really quickly and easily that are going to grow your practice quickly and easily.
One of the underachieving areas that I see in so many veterinary practices is or are recall rates; that’s recall rates for;
- vaccination,
- annual health check,
- heart worm injection,
- whatever it happens to be, just recall rates in general.
If we talk today, specifically about annual health check and vaccination, typically in most practices, it’s around 40% or 50%.
This means that out of every 100 pets that are due for annual health check/vaccination, only about 40% to 50% show up 12 months later.
NOTE:
It’s very easy to achieve a 75% or easily enough an 80% recall rate.
That is just hugely beneficial for the patient and for the client, obviously, and it’s hugely profitable for the practice. I mean that is just ‘found’ money.
I’ve done a video in the past about the specific process and how to get to that 75%, 80%, 85%.
I gave you the exact scripting for;
- the SMS which is the first recall device that’s sent,
- the email which is the second recall device that’s sent,
- the letter that is third recall device that’s sent, and
- then the call, the physical phone call that your receptionist or nurse does as the fourth part of that sequence.
All the scripting is there, it’s online, I’ve done it for you, just look it up on my YouTube channel and you’ll find it.
In the recent 3,4 or 5 months, a new tip or trick has become available that makes this whole process so much more simple and easy for you, and that tip or trick is online booking.
- My suggestion to you is that you setup an online booking system (ASAP).
Get your software provider to provide you with an online booking system. Many different PM software will do it themselves, or you can go to a third party.
There are many good third parties around that I’d highly recommend, and I’m going to say that there is one that I would not recommend at all. I have just received negative feedback again and again and again and again from just one particular provider – so be VERY careful.
I’m not happy to give you that provider’s name in public, but if you want to send me a personal email or SMS me or ring me, I’ll certainly tell you the ones that I would use and you can work out the one I wouldn’t use by default.
You’ll hear lots of bad stories about this one provider. All the others, I’m really hearing really good reports around.
The idea here is that your SMS (I’ve given you that scripting), in that SMS, have your online booking link – and make it ‘obvious’.
You will send a very brief SMS out and say “Use this link now,” and your client can book immediately off the back of that SMS and go and book their own appointment.
It saves your nurse’s time, it makes live a lot easier of the client as well.
And then, in your email, your next email, the one that comes out after the SMS, you use that on-line booking link again and people can book directly from that email by using link.
Results
You’ll find your recall rates from your SMS and your email will go up quite substantially, which means there are fewer letter to send and less phone calls to make.
That’s my tip for you for this week. My strongest advice is to go and do it now. You’ll really make your clients’ lives easier and your own life easier as well.
